Autumn is upon us and I love Autumn fashion! The colours are amazing and everything is so cosy and comfortable! In this post I’m sharing what I believe to be timeless Autumn fashion staples needed in your closet! To find out what I believe to be Autumnal beauty staples then click here.
Cardigans
Cardigans are so underrated but are so cosy and comfortable! They can be found cheap in shops such as primark and add a cute touch to most autumnal outfits. I like the chunky knit ones the most as they seem to just scream autumn and cute! I tend to go for grey or cream in Autumn as I feel they’re more widely available and the colours are more versatile! There’s nothing better than throwing on a cardigan for around the house when you’re cold. In Autumn this is especially frequent which makes it one of my staples!
Knitted jumpers
I love to buy these oversized and you can literally get these in any colour and style! You can go casual in a soft knitted jumper or you can go preppy and smart in one from a brand such as Ralph Lauren. I wear these a lot for fall since my school has a dress code. I like to wear my Ralph Lauren ones with a skirt but I tend to go for really oversized ones with trousers and both ways looks so effortless and Autumnal. My all time favourite one is a loose sleeved Topshop sweater that I picked up on Black Friday. See what else I bought here.
Teddy coats
Now these are new for this year but they’ve taken the UK and US by storm! I purchased mine in August and I was surprised by their popularity at school and on instagram! I’m so glad that I have mine though, it’s incredible warm and cosy and ties most of my outfits together! I barely leave the house without it! It goes well with so many outfits and the beige one definitely fits the Autumn aesthetic. I love the cute buttons on mine too as I feel it adds an extra something to the appeal of it. These are yearly Autumn staples and this year I transitioned to a Borg coat which is very similar, just a little more fluffy. Purchase it here.
Corduroy
This material has become more popular in fall now and I love it! So many clothing items can be made from this from coats to skirts to baker boy hats. I love it and it’s so popular right now! My wardrobe holds a few skirts in this material and I do really like it. I really also want a baker boy hat though I rarely wear hats as they don’t suit me. Maybe these can be the first type that do! They just never seem to sit right on my head! They’re also another perfect autumn accessory though to complete any autumn outfit!
Boots
Of course, you can’t go anywhere in autumn without seeing boots at least once. Whether they’re ugg boots, timberlands or thigh high, these are a staple for autumn as they can be worn with pretty much any outfit. The versatility is amazing and as soon as you pull your Ugg boots on, you’re rocking an autumnal outfit no matter what it looks like! I’m liking ankle boots right now and they really do add an autumnal flair to the outfit than if I was to just wear my trainers.
Oversized hoodies
This one I’ve been wearing a lot recently, they get sold in a lot of places and look extremely cute, I have one that I got for free during a university summer school and it’s so cosy at night! Mine comes mid-thigh and I roll the sleeves up and without sounding self-absorbed, it genuinely looks really cute. Mine is grey and for me, that’s a go-to colour. It may seem boring but it fits so well in Autumn and you honestly can’t go wrong. Grey suits any skin tone and body shape and so many items of clothing comes in a grey option. Sure it’s not going to stand out as very colourful, but the whole of Summer is the time for the colourful outfits! For me, oversized hoodies are an essential for you Autumn fashion collection.
Scrunchies
These are my favourite accessory of all time! They look so cute and I’m so glad that they’re coming back into fashion. I used to hate them back when I was in year 8 but now I barely use any other hair tie! They dress up so many hairstyles and can make a quick hairstyle look like loads more time has been spent on it. New look have a great selection with my favourite being the crushed velvet ones. They’re also really inexpensive making it a whole lot better!
Bralettes
These are so cute! Especially when you wear an off the shoulder jumper and the strap can be seen! They look so cute under a huge coat too like you see on Instagram, though in Autumn I’d say it’s far too cold to do that! I bought my first one in America last year from Victoria’s Secret, it was on sale and only cost me $2. I was blown away! Since then, I’ve definitely got some wear out of it and it’s still going strong. It’s very plain and simple but I like that about it. I wear it a lot throughout Autumn and it’s definitely become a fashion staple for me.
And that’s all the staples I have for now! Please share your favourite autumnal clothing below!
We don’t have Autumn here in the Philippines but I love reading about Autumn fashion! I love wearing cardigans & over sized hoodies when it’s a bit cold here though. Amazing post lovely!
