When winter rolls around, you always seem to just change how you do things and this winter, my evening routine has changed massively since Summer so I decided that I’d share how I spend most evenings.
4:20- I arrive home from school, and usually dinner is already prepared so I immediately join my family to eat, and we share our day and anything important announcements that anyone has. This is a really good way to start the evening as it gives me a break from school work. Our meal times are very chilled and I always end up laughing about something.
5:00- After everything is cleared away, I set about to do my homework and revise. Mock exams are coming up for me so past papers and homework does take up the majority of my night. To organise myself, I use my bullet journal weekly spread to make a to-do list and every time I complete a task that I set myself then I’ll highlight it. I try to do at least 3 hours of revision a night. This doesn’t always mean I do 3 hours but it’s the goal I try to reach. When I revise, I use my iPad rather than phone as I feel it helps me procrastinate less which is always good!
8:00- Once I’ve finished my revision, I’ll take a shower. I wash my hair every other day and on days that I don’t, I’ll throw my hair in a bun so it doesn’t get wet. I’ll also carry out my skincare routine in the shower, washing my makeup off with the Liz Earle hot cloth cleanser then double-cleansing with the Biore charcoal face wash. At the minute I’m also loving Snow Fairy by Lush, it’s definitely one of my absolute favourite scents! I’ve used Lush’s snow fairy shower gel for years now and it always makes me feel so Christmassy as it’s a limited edition scent. This is one of Lush’s biggest sellers during Christmas time and it’s not hard to see why! If you love sweet scents then this is one for you!
8:15- My showers generally don’t take that long and once I’m done, I’ll change into my pyjamas and dressing gown, tone and moisturise my face, then relax for the night. At the moment I’m reading the book This is Going to Hurt, I’m reading in preparation for my interview for medicine but I’m also really enjoying it since it’s a humorous book. I also watch a bit of TV, at the moment, I’m a celebrity is on and that usually takes the UK by storm. After 8 is really just my time to relax and unwind from revision as it can get stressful. It’s very important to take breaks from schoolwork as otherwise you can get burnt out. This isn’t good for both mental health and your grades. You end up doing worse if you burn out!
10/10:30- I come up to to my room and I usually just lay in bed messaging my friends and talking to my sisters to unwind. I make sure my phone is on the setting that gives out less glaring light so it doesn’t disrupt my sleep.
11:00- This is usually when I decide to sleep and before I sleep I try and make sure I pray and am fully relaxed because I hate laying in bed for ages but feeling wide awake. I’ve found that for me, the easiest way to sleep is lying as still as I can for as long as possible.
This is a short post but is generally what my night consists of so I hope you enjoyed, and please comment the favourite part of your night routine!
