I’ll start by being honest. I’m not the biggest fan of the much loved Estée Lauder original double wear. I’m not sure why but it doesn’t agree with my skin much and I’m not fond of the smell, quite chemically. I can make it work if I absolutely need to but it’s not one that I’d reach for if I wanted to wear foundation.
It’s light companion though? I’m in love.
I’ve been waiting to post this review for a while now and since I’ve recently used it all up, I think my review can be fair and trusted.
This is a light coverage but for me, it covers all that I need to and it’s the only foundation that I’ve found doesn’t get messed up with powder over the top which is a must for me since my skin is an oil-producing machine! I use a beauty blender to blend this but in the past I have used a brush and both tools work well with this foundation. I’ve opted for the beauty blender more recently because I’ve been into a more natural look recently but I’ve definitely wore it out with more coverage when I used a brush.
Using this foundation, I got many compliments on my skin, and a lot were absolutely blown away that it wasn’t my actual skin because of how good it looked. The look I tend to go for more is this foundation paired with blush and a liquid highlighter then that’s it for base, then I’ll do eyebrows and mascara and that’s generally my completed look.
The price for this foundation varies depending on where you buy it but the cheapest I’ve seen is £29 which is quite pricey but it’s definitely not the most expensive foundation on the market so I will definitely be repurchasing.
For oily skin, this is a miracle product, I still get a little oil but it looks more like dewy skin and it’s manageable compared to the bucket tons I produce with other foundations. If you have oily skin, you’ll definitely not regret buying this one!
Another benefit is it’s breathable because it’s so light, I always forget I’m wearing it and my skin feels soft and silky instead of the powdery feeling I get when wearing heavier ones. It is quite thick for a light-coverage foundation but it blends very well and effortlessly.
The only downside I do have though, is that it doesn’t have a pump, therefore I end up squeezing out more than is needed and that leads to me running out quicker which is providing no benefit for my bank account!
I did use this pretty much everyday and luckily it didn’t break me out once, which is amazing since my blemish-prone skin happens to do that a lot with other foundations and this one also didn’t crease which I sometimes have trouble with especially under the eyes.
I’ve read more recent reviews which have said that it’s not as good anymore and it’s more matte but I feel like this may benefit me even more so I’ll definitely give it a try and make sure you keep updated!
