A natural, glowy makeup look!
It’s now spring and for me, that means more dewy and natural makeup looks. If you want to see how I create the makeup look below then continue to read!
Other makeup looks I’ve done;
I start off with the usual Superdrug Vitamin E day cream. This has been my go-to day cream for months now, it has SPF and smells like coconuts, it’s absolutely perfect for my oily skin and so inexpensive so why not use it?
For primer, I use the new Revolution colour correcting primer. Although I don’t see any reduced redness, it does make my skin extremely smooth ready for foundation which is what I prioritise in a primer.
Before I apply my foundation, I do my eyes, and at the minute, I’m loving the natural shades in my Morphe 24G palette. I apply before foundation in case of any fallout, but generally there never is too much. I just apply a pink shimmer on my lid. On the photo below, it’s the 2nd from the bottom on the left (glossy). This just makes my eyes pop without being too dramatic.
Now, onto foundation, for this look, I just applied a very thin layer of Clinique Even Better foundation. This really does look like my skin but better, and has such good yet natural looking coverage. You’re skin looks fresh and for Spring, it’s perfect! SPF is also in this foundation which means you don’t have to remember sunscreen and it claims to help even your skin tone over time! This comes in 34 shades and I can’t recommend it enough for a lightweight yet medium coverage foundation!
I’ll give you 3 guesses for my concealer, it’s one I’ve mentioned a lot on my blog. Of course, the Estée Lauder Double Wear concealer. This is such a lovely concealer, creamy and blendable with a good level of coverage that doesn’t look unnatural. I only really use this under my eyes since the foundation generally seems to cover everything I need it to, apart from my 10kg eye bags *sigh*.
Due to the dewy look we’re going for, I next apply a liquid illuminator. Currently, I only own one that I highly recommend, which is the Sleek Barekissed illuminator in Monaco. This makes my skin look so dewy and glowy and the colour is a perfect match for my skin. This comes in a darker shade (Pompeii) but skin the colour barely shows up on the skin, I think you could use either and get that fresh-faced glow.
Since it’s now spring, I’m also into cream blushers and my absolute favourite is the Clinique Chubby Stick in the shade Plumped Up Peony. This is difficult to apply over foundation as you don’t get much payout and it drags your foundation, so instead, I apply it to a blush brush then stipple it onto my cheeks for a natural flush. I’m absolutely ecstatic with the results of this method!
I do set with a very thin layer of powder to ensure my skin doesn’t get crazy oily and I use my trusty Rimmel Match Perfection loose powder, for the price, it can’t be beaten! If the price isn’t enough to persuade you then the fact that I’ve never had flashback with it should!
To add back some of the glow that was lost to the powder, I use the Soap and Glory Glow All Out powder. You can use it as blush, powder or a mild highlight and for this look, I use it as the latter. It’s a very subtle, pink sheen that is isn’t glittery at all! This has lasted me ages and it’s my go to when I want a very minimalist makeup look. You don’t get much colour payoff but it’s enough to give your cheeks a soft, peachy hue.
Benefit’s gimme brow is the chosen natural brow product of choice. Now I mentioned this in my ‘5 products that aren’t worth the hype’ post, and I still stand by that. The thing is, it’s not a terrible product, it’s just extremely pricey for what it is. I feel like there are much better and affordable options out there. Since however, I don’t have another brow gel, I just brush this product through my brows and it does keep them in place all day and fills them in just enough in a natural manner.
Want natural looking long lashes? And at drugstore price? Maybelline Lash Sensational has you covered! The brush allows lashes to be coated equally, and it allows separation of them all. This reduces the volume which I love as I aim to get length over volume, especially for natural looks. This is my absolute holy grail mascara and I can’t recommend it enough!
Finally, to make sure it stays on all day, I use my Urban decay setting spray. This is the best setting spray I’ve ever used and I love how it mists the spray on your face rather than a squirt as it means it covers a larger area of your face and doesn’t take years to dry!
What’s your favourite product to get glowy skin?
I love the idea of looks like this but my skin is way too oily for anything glowy. Your look is very pretty though:)
My skin is so so oily but the products worked with my skin! Xx
Great post with some products I will just have to go out and get my hands on! Great detailed post!
