It’s no secret that Korean skincare is the ultimate skincare. They prioritise skincare over makeup and the result of this is perfectly clear and glowy “glass” skin.
When shopping recently, I came across a pack in TKMaxx that contained a Korean beauty travel kit.
The Oh K! Travel 8 step regime contained everything you could need for a true pamper night and although it says travel, I just used it to give my skin some real TLC. I also love this gold package, it really caught my eyes and gave me the impression that I’d be left with glowy skin. The retail price is £15 but I bought it at the TKMaxx price of £6.99. The whole kit contained:
- A 2-in-1 shampoo
- A shower gel
- A cleansing oil
- A foaming face wash
- A toning lotion
- A jelly face mask
- A boosting lotion
- A moisturiser
- Seems like a true Korean skincare routine right?
1. Body wash/shower gel
This product didn’t really stand out to me; it was just a regular body wash. It smelt good but the fragrance was very light which doesn’t appeal to me because I buy body washes for its scent and if you’re not going to be able to truly smell it then why buy it? I do think it provided the perfect amount for one wash though as the small amount given managed to cover and clean my whole body.
2. 2-in-1 shampoo
What. A. Lather! I really wasn’t sure how this product would work out since Oh K! are infamous for their skincare and have never shown a hint of haircare. This lathered really well though, especially on my oily hair type and it smelt so so good! The colour was a shimmy champagne colour and felt really good and conditioning so hopefully by morning my hair will be soft and silky! It would be such a shame if it did nothing for me.
3. Cleansing oil
If one item surprised me most in this whole kit then it’d be this one! As I looked at it on the cotton pad, all I could think was, “this tiny circle of oil is going to do absolutely nothing.” I was so wrong! It was only small but it really took off my whole face! Really, it was amazing, my foundation, mascara, eyeshadow, brows, everything, came off with this! As well as that, it took hardly any rubbing too! If this brand ever bought out a bottle of this cleansing oil then I would 100% be first in line to purchase it!
4. Cleaning facial foam
This was so fun! It has a shaving foam consistency so rubbing it into my face feels so good! It’s very silky and there once again, is enough product for my whole face. This also feels really good after the cleansing oil as it takes away that oily film left on my skin which in all honesty, I’m not a fan of, especially due to my oily skin type, but this cleanser takes it away no problem so it isn’t too much of a problem.
5. Toning lotion
I didn’t really see a point in this step. It truly felt like was just wiping water on my face. It had no scent and was colourless. I didn’t feel my skin was any different after using this product. I would have preferred to have just used my regular witch hazel toner for this step.
6. Jelly mask
Now this wasn’t what I was expecting at all! I was expecting a sort of rubbery mask coated in a serum, instead, it was a sheet mask in a jelly-like hydrating substance. I honestly wouldn’t say it’s gold either, it’s a pale yellow serum that doesn’t look all that colourful when the mask is on.
7. Booster lotion
Now I’m not quite sure what this is supposed to do, I’m guessing to just add more hydration? On Pinterest however, I do see it in a lot of Korean skincare routines. This however, is a bit of a strange one for me as I’ve never seen a booster lotion being sold in bottles in the UK though I’m not sure if it’s a different story in Korea; it wouldn’t surprise me though since they are well known for their skincare.
8. Moisturiser
I’m always wary of using moisturisers as I’m nervous of how it’ll work with my oily skin. This one however, is fine. It didn’t blow me away but it’s not a bad moisturiser. I also like that it isn’t greasy but it didn’t benefit nor worsen my skin so I’m not entirely sure what else can be said about this product!
Overall, I think this was a really good kit that did make my skin and hair feel very soft and healthy. I do think it’s a perfect travel kit, though several may have to be bought as they are single use packets. It will be very beneficial for your skin after a flight when it’s looking dull and dry. In all honesty, I would repurchase this again however simply because I went to bed with my skin feeling great, and I know that I’d wake up with my skin still being hydrated!
Do you follow a skincare routine? Have you ever tried Korean skincare?
What a cool product! Never seen anything like it but such a great way to try Korean skincare
It was very interesting to use! Thanks for reading!
I’ve been looking for a cleansing oil & that one sounds amazing!! The packaging is adorable 😍😍. I definitely need to try some Korean skincare! X
It’s really good! I usually don’t use cleansing oil because of my oily skin but this was a good change for once! Xx
