I’m currently writing this post from Mallorca! Currently, I’m waiting for my family to get ready so I decided to jump straight into a blog post!
In this post I’m doing a foundation collection and I’ll be ranking my foundations out of ten to give you all the best idea of how good they are. I have oily skin so what works amazing for me, may not be as good for you. So, with that in mind, I’ll begin!
Revolution- conceal and define foundation
I do really like this foundation. It’s an affordable, high quality formula and the coverage is very competitive with higher end foundations while being lightweight and staying relatively matte. My only complaint about this foundation however is it’s wearability, it stays in tact yet the coverage considerably decreases with prolonged wear. I generally reach for this when I have an event and I’m only wearing the foundation for the night. I probably wouldn’t grab this for an everyday wear foundation, simply due to the lasting power.
Superdrug BB cream
Now I have spoken about this on a review which you can read here, however, my views have shifted slightly. I do like this BB cream on first application, it does everything I’d look for, natural coverage, dewy effect etc. Unfortunately, this doesn’t last, by the end of the day, it’s quite patchy and the coverage isn’t as strong as it first seems. If it’s longevity was better, it would have scored a 10/10, but due to its poor performance, its score is lower.
Estée Lauder Double Wear
So, I’ve had a love-hate relationship with this foundation, at first, I hated it. It doesn’t smell too good and it looked very cakey upon application. The second time wearing it though, after shaving my face, was amazing! If you have a smooth base to apply this too then it’s worth the hype. Having peach fuzz however, doesn’t work, for me anyway. It lasts very well as it’s quite heavy and the coverage is as insane as everyone claims. I definitely wouldn’t wear this everyday as it’s not lightweight in the slightest but I love it for occasions, especially ones that last all day and/or night.
Estée Lauder Double wear light
Now, I’ve raved about this one enough now, and you can read it on my blog post here. It’s very lightweight but provides good coverage. The natural finish is what bumps this one right up there and staying matte also earns it some extra brownie points! If you don’t like foundations that feel like a mask but you need good coverage then this is the one for you! I’ve recently finished mine but I’ll definitely be repurchasing!
Too Faced Born this Way
Now this is surprising for some but I like this foundation as it actually works well with my oily skin! Many dry skinned people claim this as their holy grail but I also really like it. It obviously doesn’t stay as matte as others but it doesn’t make me a grease ball! It’s very good for everyday wear as it’s comfortable on the skin and provides full yet natural coverage. I also really like the frosted bottle as it gives it the high-end vibes that you’re paying for.
Clinique Even Better Skin
I actually really like this foundation but I definitely don’t reach for it as much as I should. It’s really good for everyday wear but mostly it gets hidden in the shadows. It has a really nice finish and stays relatively matte. It’s definitely not my favourite but I would definitely wear it on a daily basis if I had the money for it. As it’s name suggests, it does look like your skin but even better. I also like that it has SPF in it too because even though my daily moisturiser has it, it doesn’t hurt to have even more to prevent early ageing!
Maybelline Matte and Poreless
I honestly don’t like this as much as it’s hyped about. The formula for me doesn’t cut it. I feel it doesn’t stay matte for as long as I’d like and I see no difference with my pores. Coverage is good but wears off quickly and I feel that it runs out quite quickly too. I know so many people love it but it’s just not for me despite my oily skin, I tried so hard to like it but I just didn’t bode well. The formula is quite watery though so it’s lightweight which I like!
L’Oréal Infallible Total Coverage
This beats Mac studio fix hands down. The coverage is insane and it’s not as heavy as it has a mousse type of formula which sits well on the skin. It keeps me matte despite that not being it’s main concern and it smooths my skin making it look completely flawless. The price tag is what makes it all the more appealing as it’s a drugstore foundation! I haven’t found another from the drugstore that delivers quite as hard as this one! If you need a high-coverage foundation for events then I highly recommend this one.
Kiko Milano Soft Focus Powder Foundation
I don’t use this as a foundation but as a setting powder, it’s amazing. It adds extra coverage and due to its initial cause, it makes my base last all day and helps me stay matte. I’m not sure if they still sell this but if they don’t then other powders will struggle to compete. The sponge they provide for application doesn’t get used by me as I prefer to use a brush but I’m sure the sponge does work quite well as it seems to be of good quality. Due to it not being as good a foundation, I’ve scored it slightly lower.
Rimmel Lasting Finish foundation
I used to use this foundation everyday at school until I went bare faced and it’s really good for natural wear. It provides medium coverage and it stays fairly matte. The longevity on this is also good which is why I used to frequently grab it for school. Comfort serum is also added into this to make it comfortable and doesn’t make you feel like you’re wearing a mask. I’d say this is a good drugstore everyday foundation.
