Summer calls for a shift in products as the weather gets hotter. Makeup is more likely to be sweated off and a lighter base is preferred. In this post I’ll be sharing my super glowy makeup routine that I turn to in Summer!

Now, let’s get started!
How do I create a perfect summer makeup base?
Obviously, like any other makeup routine, I use my Superdrug Vitamin E moisturiser. I’ve raved about this before and it’s my holy grail! It has SPF which is perfect in Summer and smells of coconuts! It’s not too heavy which I like as my skin is super oily!
Primer is essential for a summer makeup routine as makeup is much more likely to slide off your face. I like the Becca backlight primer as it also adds a glow. My favourite feature of this primer however, is its ability to blur. This is a product I reach to on no makeup days. It just adds a little more life to my skin.
During Summer, I’m not a fan of foundation so recently, I’ve been using the Simple Kind to Skin BB Cream. This provides just the right amount of coverage which also being lightweight! This also has SPF, so, paired with the moisturiser, it’s the perfect combo! I was lucky with the shade as I eyeballed it and it’s a great match!
As for concealer, I only use it under my eyes. I don’t like to add any more coverage to the rest of my skin as in Summer, I like my base to look very natural and skin-like. My favourite concealer is Collection Lasting Perfection.
Before powder, I also like to apply my blush and contour as throughout summer, I like to use cream blush and contour. First I’ll apply a bronzer from the Anastasia cream contour kit under my cheekbones and across my forehead. I’ll buff this out with a brush. After I’ll apply the NYX cream blush in the shade tea rose, on the apples of my cheeks. This shade is perfect for Summer and I’ve worn it every day since I’ve purchased it!
Finally I set this all with Rimmel match perfection loose powder. This is a very lightweight powder and keeps my makeup in place all day.
What else do I add to make my makeup more Summery?
After I applied the powder, I spray my face with water, this makes it all look more skin-like and natural.
While waiting for this to dry, I quickly fill in my eyebrows with Benefit Brow Zing. I only use the powder side as my brows are pretty thick already so I only apply to sparse areas.
I then go over the bronzer with the Becca Sunlit bronzer to just deepen the colour and make myself look a little more sun kissed, which is what everyone wants to be during the summer, right?
I also go over the blush with Revolution heart blush in Candy Queen Of Hearts. This is my absolute favourite blush. It’s so inexpensive and lasts for such a long time! The pigmentation is also insane so you do have to be light-handed with this!
For highlight, I love to look glowy in Summer. There’s no other highlight I could use other than the Anastasia glow kit Sundipped. I like to tap my brush in the 3 darkest shades and my skin glows to the Gods!
After highlight, I like to curl my lashes before applying mascara. My go-to mascara at the moment is Maybelline Lash Drama Falsies effect. This makes my lashes so long and thick; it really does look like false lashes! It also holds the curl that my lashes have once curled.
I also like to add Vasline to finish the look as lips can get pretty dry in the heat. My favourite is the cocoa butter one as it’s very moisturising and smells great! In Summer, I love the glossy lips look and Vasline is perfect. It helps me create this and protects my lips!
How do I make my summer makeup look last all day?
With the Urban Decay All Nighter setting spray of course! I have the oil control one and it’s perfect for my oily skin and the Summer heat! I’ve used this setting spray for so many years now and I wouldn’t use any other! It’s only setting spray that’s actually worked for me and the spray is perfect. It sprays a fine mist rather than big splatters and leaves no residue on the face. I couldn’t recommend enough!
That’s all I do for my Summer makeup look. I know this is quite a lot of makeup but I do skip some steps, this is just my going out summer makeup routine! I hope you enjoyed!
