Hey! You may have noticed I was a little MIA on social media this week and that’s because I was spending time in my favourite small seaside town. It was really fun but the downside was that there was barely any WiFi.
While away, we did visit a factory store and they were selling makeup at cheaper prices so I managed to get my hands on a few new beauty pieces that I now get to share!
Check out my past huge beauty haul!
The first thing my eyes were drawn to was the Simple Kind to Skin BB cream. I’ve been on the hunt for the perfect light coverage foundation for ages so I tried this. I had nothing to lose and I liked the kind to skin moisturiser by the same brand. I was actually pleasantly surprised by this BB cream. The coverage isn’t too light and it looks natural on the skin, it also has SPF! I was very lucky with the shade as there were no samples- it was a perfect match!
After buying this, I wore it quite a lot throughout the week. The natural look it gave was perfect for the warm weather we were blessed with and it was an easy alternative to foundation in the mornings. It was nice to feel like I wasn’t wearing makeup.
W7 glamorous gloss was my next choice. Not being a big fan of lipstick, I was drawn more to the lipglosses. Usually, I like a clear gloss or a natural pink but I pushed myself out of my comfort zone and bought this deep red one and I love it. The colour isn’t as dramatic as it looks and that’s because it’s a little more sheer once applied. The glitter isn’t overpowering and is well distributed. This was very inexpensive so I was especially impressed- the only thing I’d change is the packaging as it’s not very exciting.
Since Summer started, I’ve been a big fan of cream blushers and I love the Clinique chubby stick. The only issue I have with it is that it’s quite an Autumnal colour so I was ecstatic to find this NYX stick blush. The shade is called tea rose and it’s the perfect summer colour! I love to buff this on the skin, applying it to a brush before my skin. This way, it doesn’t tug at and rub off my foundation. It’s quite pigmented but not so much so that you’d botch your makeup due to high pigmentation.
I found this very creamy and it added the cutest flush of colour to my cheeks which instantly transformed my makeup into a natural summer look. I may post a summer makeup routine soon since my products are pretty different during summer compared to the colder months.
My favourite product of the whole haul has got to be the Maybelline Falsies push up drama. This made my lashes unbelievably long; I didn’t know they could be such a length! They add an amount of volume that I’m not keen on but the length makes it forgivable. To solve the volume problem, I just brush an eyebrow comb through them and the problem is instantly solved. The name really lives up to expectations and I was so impressed with this purchase!
The small bottle may make you think it’s a dupe and the same thought ran through my brain. I figured the L’Oréal age perfect serum would be a good dupe for the Estée Lauder night repair serum but I can’t say it is. The packaging is similar but it makes my skin much oilier than I anticipated. It does feel very silky upon application but it doesn’t improve my skin like the Estée Lauder does. It’s not an awful serum but since I was comparing it as a dupe, it did come up short and let me down.
Now this last product isn’t a beauty product but I did buy it and found it cute. It’s an ice cream that has the name of the town sewn into it. I found it such a cute souvenir idea and it was available in chocolate, vanilla and strawberry. Chocolate is my favourite so it was a no brainer on what flavour to choose. Not only was it cute but I was also really impressed at how real the flake looked- I’m strange, I know!
