Since it’s now September, you cannot deny that Autumn is approaching if not already here! Personally, I love this season. Pumpkin spice lattes, cosy nights and the vibrant colours. Unfortunately, this isn’t the case for others. In this blog post, I’m outlining small tips to help you feel more Autumnal. This is perfect for those who need to be inspired for Autumn or have no clue on ways to feel more Autumnal!
Change up your perfumes/body mists
This one is so simple yet so effective for me. During Summer I tend to steer towards fruity and fresh scents as I feel this fits the season well. In Summer you want lighter and fun scents whereas in Autumn, warmer and muskier scents are the ones to opt for. My favourite Autumnal scents are the Bath and Body works Sweet Cinnamon Pumpkin body mist and Victoria’s secret Vanilla Lace. The Vanilla Lace is my absolute favourite scent as I’m a sucker for sweet scents and this is the epitome of sweetness! This scent is also a lot stronger than the pumpkin one so it tends to linger for a little longer. A long-lasting body spray is very important for me as I’m very forgetful and often forget to bring a body spray along!
Buy some cosy decor!
In Autumn, I absolutely my bed being cosy so I always stock up on blankets and cushions. Not only does this make your bed more comfortable but it also makes it feel more seasonal when you curl up in bed at night. If you really need the push then go for Autumnal colours such as burgundy or burnt orange. I personally prefer pinks as I have a very girly style but any colours can look cute! Right now, I have a cosy, white blanket and 2 pink cushions to decorate my bed and I love how cute and comfortable it is!
Get some Autumnal candles!
I personally love this idea! Candles not only give you a cosy, Autumnal vibes but they make your room smell so good! Unfortunately, I’m not allowed candles in my student accommodation that you can see here, but I always had them at home and nothing got me in the Autumnal mood more than cinnamon bun scented candles! My favourite brands are Bath and Body Works and Yankee Candles as these are strongest. If you’re more into lighter scents then these are widely available too!
Update your wardrobe!
In Autumn, I do like to still wear skirts but throwing a cardigan over the outfit instantly makes it more seasonal! I also like to bring my sweaters out for Autumn, Primark and New Look do some great ones that are also pretty inexpensive. I also tend to switch trainers for shoes/boots. I like trainers for when it’s raining and I’m walking across campus but I feel a good pair of shoes can make your wardrobe so much more Autumnal. For me, Autumn is also the time I like to try out my Winter coats. I have a coat for cold and a waterproof coat too. I feel like pulling on a cosy coat before you go out is enough to make you feel Autumnal, especially with a warm scarf too.
Hot drinks!
Autumn is perfect to indulge in hot chocolate and coffee and if you’re feeling adventurous then add flavoured syrups. Last year to get into a more Wintry spirit, I added gingerbread syrup to my coffee and it was amazing! Starbucks sell a whole Pumpkin Spice Latte range in-store and online. I generally feel lazy though and buy a PSL whenever I’m in Starbucks. If you’re not a fan of the Starbucks version then Costa do their own version which some people who don’t like the Starbucks tend to actually enjoy. I’m the biggest of Starbucks however so I can’t give an opinion on the Costa. If you’re not a fan of coffee then enjoy a hot chocolate, I don’t know a single person who doesn’t like that!
Take in your surroundings!
The leaves turn orange and crunch under your feet and it’s such a cliche seasonal image. Go for a walk to feel more Autumnal and I can ensure it’ll get you in the seasonal spirit. I love looking at all the trees as the leaves change colour and fall, it’s so much more aesthetically pleasing than green. Maybe take some photos as you explore. Autumn Polaroids would look so cute hung up in your room with all the Autumnal decor!
How do you like to transition into Autumn?
For me, autumn means lack of sun and rain. I mean, every season has benefits. We can’t exactly boil and experience sun for eternity! Your tips are really awesome, especially the perfume one. When I think of transitioning into a new season, the first thing that I think of is clothes not perfume. Lovely post 🙂
