Since starting University, my routines have changed greatly. So in this post, I’m sharing with you my typical day.
Also before I start, I’m going to point out that university has led to me being very busy which is why my blog uploads aren’t as frequent but my attempt is to post at least once a week. I can’t promise I’ll keep to but I’ll try. If you haven’t already, check out my University Room Tour.
Okay, so I’m going to talk you through a typical day in my life when I have a class. I’m only in university for 10 hours a week this semester. This means I’m only in 3 days a week. I have the weekend as well as Monday and Tuesday off. Despite this, I still have lots of work to do on those days! For example, on Tuesday, I spend 6 hours research notes and lecture slides, it’s not easy!
Usually, my lecture will start at 9am and generally lasts until 1pm, with the exception of Thursday where I’m in 11-1. I’ll get up at half past 7 and make my bed immediately. I hate to get back to an unmade bed and it makes you feel better when you go to sleep.
I’ll then get myself ready for the day and get some breakfast. Everyone in my halls are usually asleep when I do this so I tend to listen to music as I eat.
After, I pack my bag for the lecture. This is always my books, pencil case, laptop, phone, water bottle and student ID. About 20 minutes before the lecture is due to start, I set off. This may not seem like a lot of time but I study at a campus university so everything is in close proximity of each other. It takes about 10 minutes to get to my lecture hall and one of my course friends is usually waiting so we go in.
Personally, I like to arrive at lectures a little early so I can lay my things out and just allow myself to get into the right mindset for the session.
After my lecture, I usually go back to my halls to get lunch and I’ll talk to my flatmates. Thankfully, I get on really well with all my flatmates so there’s always someone to talk to when I get back. I usually spend an hour or so in the kitchen at lunch, but then I’ll go back to my room to copy up notes and do some for their reading. This generally takes a few hours then I’ll go and socialise again as everyone is always back by 6:30.
It’s around that time when I’ll make dinner as well. Our kitchen is always pretty lively and everyone cooks a lot too so it always smells good! We don’t necessarily set a time to have food but we usually all end up cooking and eating at the same time. If I’m running low on food I’ll also then use the time to take a trip to the supermarket. In our town, Aldi is the most preferred supermarket yet we also have a Morrisons for the branded foods. Also after dinner, I’ll use the time to call my mum and nan.
Around 2/3 days a week I like to go to the gym, usually for a class. I like to opt for classes as it’s more structured. The thought of using the gym equipment in front of other people kind of scares me but I’m sure I’ll get over this soon! The classes I currently take are Zumba Strong and Konga, then the other is dependent on which we can book, usually we go for Legs, Bums and Tums.
Obviously after the gym, I’ll shower then I generally go back to my flat to talk to my flatmates and I’ll plan my outfit for the next day as it helps me feel more organised. For the past few Saturdays we have been going out, but I feel when we get more into our course then that’ll become less frequent. We generally have pre drinks in the kitchen then we head to the Student Union club as they have a themed night every weekend. A few previous parties have been a UV paint party and a Jungle themed party.
Despite my days being hectic, I have loved every moment of uni! If anyone is thinking of going or is a little unsure then I’d say go for it! I can see why it isn’t for everyone but I have thoroughly enjoyed my time so far. At my university they do cater for people who don’t drink too, but the people who don’t tend to go to the parties and still enjoy it!
