Now that Autumn is upon us and I’ve officially helped you to feel more Autumnal, I thought I’d let you all in on the beauty and fashion staples you can’t afford to not have! This will be majority of beauty however, as I wrote a post last year on fashion staples that you can read here. Most of those items still stand yet a few new ones will be included in this post.
Beauty Autumnal Staples
I’ve decided to start with beauty as this will be the largest part of this post. The first thing that you need is a good lip balm! I carry my Vaseline around with me all the time. It’s especially more important in Autumn when the cold weather leads to your lips being more prone to getting chapped. Any lip balm that works will be fine but I prefer Vaseline because it’s very moisturizing and I’ve never had chapped lips with it yet!
I also recommend getting a good moisturiser for Autumn as once again, thanks to the colder/harsher weather, your skin will dry out. I have oily skin and even I switch to a more heavy-duty moisturiser during these colder months. My favourite is the Clinique Moisture surge as it’s pretty lightweight but really hydrates the skin.
An autumnal eyeshadow palette is also a must! I love to play around with oranges, reds and golds around this time of year. For me, the perfect palette is the Morphe 35O palette. The O2 palette is also very pretty but I didn’t purchase when it came out as I felt it was very similar to the original which I already had. I’m not very talented with makeup but an orange-based eyeshadow look can make you look a whole lot more autumnal.
Self-tanning facial drops are why you need this autumn! Your tan starts to fade and you start to feel a little down but this serum will help maintain that tan! I use Superdrug’s own brand and I never get any transfer on my bedding despite always applying it before bed. This also helps me save more money as I don’t have to buy a paler foundation as my foundation matches my face and body for longer.
During Autumn I feel like you need to adopt a new scent and I love sweet scents. At the moment I’m loving Warm and Cosy by Pink. It smells as the name suggests and is one of the sweetest scents that I love. I also feel the scent fits my pink fashion sense that I tend to go for and I always get compliments when wearing it which helps with confidence! Vanilla, cinnamon and pumpkin are the scents I tend to go for in autumn and they never fail to get noticed when I wear them! Victoria’s Secret and Bath and Body Works are my favourite place to get body mists. Victoria’s Secret is good for vanilla/sweet scents whereas Bath and Body Works are easily reliable for amazing seasonal scents. I went to America in 2017 and I purchased a pumpkin body mist and it smells amazing!
Like I said, fashion isn’t my heavy focus as I’ve already got a post on it. I do have 2 more though that aren’t included on the last post though so I’ll share them here!
The first essential is a waterproof coat! It’s all good having a warm coat but it won’t be helpful in the wet weather if it’s not waterproof! I have a waterproof coat from Hollister that is lined with fleece inside so it keeps me warm and dry! I also have a teddy coat for when it’s not raining but I wouldn’t cope without my waterproof! It’s especially important when you don’t have an umbrella or can’t be bothered to grab yours on the way out! A waterproof coat is a little on the pricier side but it definitely is a worthwhile investment. I’m definitely glad I took up my mum’s advice and brought it to uni with me!
Denim jackets are also a staple for me in Autumn. They’re perfect when you need a jacket but it’s not cold enough for a coat. They also go well with so many outfits! I love to wear mine when I wear leggings as it just seems to make it look like I put more effort into an outfit. Mine is a pretty long one but I’d also love a cropped one or one in black as then I could put together an even wider range of outfits!
So these are my essentials for Autumn! Let me know yours in the comments!
