Finally! A new blog post from me. I know I have been a little inactive recently but if you’ll follow my Twitter, you’ll know that I have been writing but it’s been hard keeping on top of it all as I’ve been so busy! So, for this blog post I’m going to be writing a little life update as I haven’t done one in a while. You can read my last one here.
So, since my last update, I started uni and I’m studying human biology as unfortunately, my maths grade didn’t change. In some ways however, I’m very glad and I’ll get onto those reasons later on. My course so far, is going well, however, the work load is hefty, which is why I’ve been MIA on this blog and social media. I’m trying to stick to one post a week but I can’t promise consistency with this.
Freshers for me, was amazing! Before university, I wasn’t a big drinker but during Freshers, I will admit that I did get a little more than tipsy. I went to 3 events and all were great in their own way. I went to a UV Neon Rave, a foam party and a UV paint party. As well as the parties, I also had to attend introductory sessions for my course. They weren’t the best planned but I did make a group of friends on my course that I still talk to all the time. In that way, they were beneficial. I also met my university best friend during Freshers so I’m very glad.
Since moving into university, I’ve also moved rooms. I got on much better with the people on the corridor opposite mine and luckily there was a spare room. Thankfully, my request to transfer to that room was approved! It wasn’t that I didn’t get along with the old corridor, I just didn’t talk to them half as much! I’m much happier in the room I’m in now and I’ve met a guy who I really like!
It’s crazy because earlier this year, one of my life posts included ‘non-existent love life’ and yet now, I’ve met someone I really like. It is pretty early but he is one of my flatmates so we do see each other all the time so it’s also progressed pretty quickly. Nothing is official yet but we have been on a date already!
For our date, we went to the nearest beach town which was absolutely gorgeous and we went bowling and grabbed something to eat. I won both games of bowling and I also won air hockey although there is no doubt that he let me win that one! We played best of 3 and he absolutely won by a landslide on the first game then seemed to let me get “free goals” during the other two. He admitted to letting me get a few easy scores but he said he wasn’t planning on letting me win so hopefully I was as good as I seemed to be. We then went for a walk on the pier and it was very quiet since it was off-season but I liked how peaceful it was. We then went to Nando’s for food which he paid for since I insisted that I pay for the bowling. He had said he wanted to pay for it all but student loans aren’t all too generous and I liked that I could contribute to the day.
Now onto the actual learning side of university, it’s not too awful. I’m in for 3 days a week and it totals to around 10 hours. This doesn’t seem like a lot and it isn’t really. The reason that I have no free time however is that some of my lecturers talk so fast so when I get back, I have to copy 100 slides worth of notes out which takes up quite a bit of time. I’m only 4 weeks in and my folder is pretty bulky with notes! I also have my first assignment which is pretty stressful as it’s not like anything I’ve done before so it’s requiring extra research. When I’m not working, I’m either out in town shopping for groceries, at the gym or socialising/unwinding.
I also tend to go out at the weekend. I think my favourite night out yet was PopWorld and Junkyard Golf. I was pretty drunk that night yet I still managed to win the golf! The cocktails are also pretty good there! Popworld was also right up my street as it played songs from High School Musical which I was fully here for! The only problem of the night was paying £100 for an Uber home. Unfortunately, my friend was the only sober one and they said they’d pay and didn’t mind about being paid back but I still have anyway. We tried to complain to get a refund but we weren’t successful but we do have good memories beside that and we try to make a joke of the uber!
So far, I have settled into uni really well and I’ve made amazing memories! If you have any questions then let me know in the comments!
