I’m currently writing this while wrapped up in a blanket because Autumn gets me so cold, so easily too! Despite that minor fact, I am sharing with you today my everyday no-makeup, makeup routine. This is also suitable for oily and acne-prone skin types as I have both of them and this works perfectly for me. If you still however that you need more coverage then check out my natural makeup routine post here. With that being said, let’s jump right into it!
So to start, I moisturise using the Superdrug Vitamin E day moistriser that rave about in every single makeup routine post that I upload. I won’t get too hyped about it now but just know that it smells great, has SPF and is extremely inexpensive!
For this look, I used 2 primers, both for different reasons. I used Benefit porefessionals first to fill in my pores and blur a few imperfections. I mainly only use this on my nose and cheeks, as these areas get oily first and it’s where my pores are biggest. I then go in with Becca Backlight priming filter. This is an amazing primer that blurs more than any primer that I’ve used before. It also adds a really healthy glow to the face without it looking unnatural which makes it perfect for this look. If I have any blemishes remaining, I’ll go in with my NYX Photogenic HD concealer. I usually have a few spots that need covering and my eye bags that insist on making the grandest of entrances every day of my life! I’ll buff this in using my foundation brush as it just allows for a little more coverage which is always helpful. This is the best concealer I’ve found for no-foundation makeup days as it’s barely detectable on the skin yet provides the coverage.
On natural makeup days, I find that cream blush is best and my favourite is the NYX cream blush stick in Tea Rose. It provides the prettiest flush on pink to your cheeks. It is very pigmented however so a little goes a long way. I like to swipe my brush over it lightly a few times before stippling it onto my cheeks. If it is still too much, then I’ll lightly dab my foundation brush over it to tone it down a little.
Due to my oily skin, I do still need to use a powder so I very lightly dust Revolution pro powder foundation over the makeup the spritz with water to take away that powdery look that’s a clear indication of makeup. This is my favourite powder, it adds a little more coverage and is only £5! It is also very finely milled so it doesn’t look cakey even without the water.
While I wait for the water to dry, I fill in my eyebrows in quickly with Benefit Browzings. I have pretty full eyebrows so I only ever need to quickly shade in the sparse patches. For me, any powder would work but I recieved the Browzings as a gift so I use that.
Moving onto mascara next, I always ensure I curl my lashes. I am obsessed with curling my lashes, I just feel it makes them look so much more longer and prettier. I then use Clinique High impact mascara. I love this mascara as it adds more length than volume which for me, is essential when doing natural makeup. If my mascara ever gets too clumpy when doing my makeup, I just like to brush my lashes through with an eyebrow brush. It removes excess product and helps separate your lashes.
As finishing touches, I like to line my top lip with the Primark lip liner in Rumour. I like to make my top lip appear bigger and this is perfect as it matches my exact lip shade. Obviously for a natural routine, I don’t go too crazy with this. Then finally, I add a little Vaseline to add a shine to my lips and spritz Urban Decay setting spray all over to set it.
This is my usual look for when I want to put an effort in at uni or if I’m spending the day out and actually want to look presentable!
