I started a blog over a year ago and it was one of the best things I’ve done. I’ve loved blogging for the year and sharing all the things I love over the internet. In this post, since it’s only a couple more months since the new year, I’ll be sharing all the reasons why you should start a blog for 2020.
It’s a good hobby
This is the main reason you should start a blog! There’s many times that you can get bored and having a blog provides a multitude of activities to keep you occupied. For example, writing blog posts, taking photos for blog posts, creating Pinterest graphics. Once you start a blog, you’ll have no reason to be bored again!
You can write and share about things you love
I love beauty and fashion and writing about it is amazing! Sharing it on the internet is even better! My confidence isn’t high enough for YouTube so my blog allows me to write rather than speak! I also love the freedom that a blog allows you like themes. Also if you mistype, you can just correct it, whereas with YouTube, if your microphone isn’t working, the whole section has to be re-recorded. I do appreciate the work that goes into YouTube, but, especially now I’m at university, I am grateful that I chose a blog as for me, it’s less time consuming.
The blogging community is lovely
There’s a blogging community on both Twitter and Instagram and on both platforms, everyone is so lovely and supportive. It’s a good way to make friends as well as drive traffic to your new blog. Twitter was my main traffic income before I started to implement Pinterest strategies when I became more serious about blogging. You’ll meet so many new people and their encouraging words will really motivate you to want to write more!
You’ll discover lots of new things!
There’s lots of blogging niches and when I share my link on a blog post thread on twitter, I like to comment on other blog posts that have been shared. I love to discover new products and beauty facts as well as travelling facts too! I have gathered so much knowledge since starting a blog as it encouraged me to read more blogs. One of my favourite discoveries when reading blog posts are recipes- especially sweet ones! I’m a total sweet-tooth, and finding these endless recipes have made me so excited to start baking more!
You’ll learn more about social media strategies
If you thought you were bad with social media before, you’ll be even more interested after! Blogging allows you to discover what your followers love and what they’re not too keen on. Pinterest is also a massive platform that with blogging, you need to know about! Pinterest is definitely my go-to platform for traffic and it’s allowed me to have a steady flow of traffic even when I’m not too active on my other social media. If you want my top social media tips then read them here.
Patience will be improved
Driving traffic and building an audience takes time and trust me, there’ll be times when you’ll want to give up as it seems hopeless. Trust me though, keep at it and your traffic will grow. It took me months to get a steady number of daily views but now I average at about 100-200 a day. Sure it’s not the biggest number but it’s a lot more than I first had when I was scraping around 10 views a day.
You can earn money
Blogging can become a job if you keep at it and want to take it further than a hobby. Putting ads on your blog is a good way to start using Adsense as well as working with brands. Usually with brands however, you get free products in return for promoting it on social media. This is good if you spend all your money on beauty products however, because as a beauty blogger, gifted products can save you a ton of money! You can also get affiliate links which will lead to a small income each time someone clicks your link.
There’s so many reasons to start a blog and hopefully these few have persuaded you!
OMG! you almost persuaded me.
Sadly, I’m still confused if I’m going to start blogging or just read blogs.
Hopefully before the year ends I have decided.
I’m not that girly but I like your contents, it really helps though.
XOXO
Thank you! You don’t need to be girly at all xx
