Now Halloween is officially over, Christmas, or at the very least Winter, has begun! This Winter, I’m so excited to celebrate Christmas in my university town before I go home for the Christmas holidays! In this post I’m writing a Winter bucketlist which I’ll hopefully complete by the end of the year! To read my travel bucketlist, click here.
Watch the Christmas lights switch on
I love Christmas lights! There’s nothing I love more than watching the light switch-on’s in a town. I feel like it brings the community together and it really feels more Christmassy once the town square is decorated. In my hometown, I used to get wrapped up in my coat and scarf then my family and I would walk around the Christmas market before purchasing a hot chocolate and watching the light switch-on followed by the fireworks that our town always hired for afterwards.
Go Christmas shopping
My university is only a short train journey away from a huge city that has an amazing shopping centre. I can’t wait to explore all the shops there and purchase some presents for my friends and family. Luckily, I’ve budgeted well this first semester and I’ve saved quite a bit of money allowing me to purchase some good gifts this year and I can’t wait to see everyone’s reactions at the presents. Giving gifts is one of my favourite parts of Christmas!
Try every drink on the Starbucks Christmas menu
Starbucks drinks are absolute classics and I love the red cups that they always bring out. They have new drinks out this year and they’ve really caught my eye. I’m really keen to try the toasted marshmallow hot chocolate- sounds very sickly but I’m a total sweet-tooth, so, for me, this is dreamy! I also want to try the gingerbread latte because surprisingly, I’ve never tried one before! There are 3 Starbucks by my university which is fortunate for me, not quite as fortunate for my bank account! Due to the convenience, I have tried the toffee nut latte. I did like it- it was sweet enough for me. Despite this, it definitely wasn’t my favourite and I’m not sure it’s a go-to order for me this Winter!
Have a Christmas movie marathon with my boyfriend
If you read my last life update then you’d know that I had met a guy that I really like but I’m now happy to say that he is now my boyfriend! Winter is just the perfect time to cuddle in the blankets and watch Netflix. We have already began watching a few series together but nothing is as festive as Christmas movies. Luckily we’ve both watched and like the same Christmas movies so this marathon will be good, just re-watching all the classics.
Decorate my uni halls
Now, I don’t know how likely this is but I just think it would be so fun! The main factor determining how likely this is, is how much money I have to spare after Christmas shopping. It’s definitely not something I’d go overboard on but some tinsel and fairy lights on the corridor would’t go amiss. I have fairy lights in my bedroom which make my room seem so cosy at night and I’d love for my halls to also have that sort of vibe.
Take a walk in the snow
Again, this is not a definite as you can’t guarantee that it’ll snow. Snow is just so gorgeous and I love walking in it when it’s falling. A negative for me however, is that I get cold too easily but I just ensure I’m wrapped up warm. To see my go-to winter coat then check out my Instagram post here. This coat was quite a steep investment for me but I do not regret it at all as it’s the warmest and softest coat. Unfortunately, it’s not waterproof so I do have my Hollister all-weather jacket for that.
My nan and I have a tradition of Winter baking and hopefully this year will be no exception! We always do mince pies and I really love the quality time that I get to spend with my Nan. Our family is huge so we always go several batches of each treat which means we usually have to spend the whole night/afternoon on it and I think it’s so fun!
What do you love doing/ want to do this Winter?
