Foreo is probably a brand you’ve seen all over Instagram at the minute. They’re cleansing brushes that claim to clean your skin better than your hands can. In this post I’ll be reviewing the Foreo Luna mini 2. Does it really live up to the hype though?
If you read my post Christmas sales haul, then you’d see that I bought the Luna mini 2 in baby pink. I wanted to make sure I’d used it for long enough before I gave it a review. Now, I’ve been using it consistently for around 3 or 4 weeks and I’ve gathered my opinions on it.
What does the Luna Mini 2 claim to do?
The pulsations from this device claims to work deep in your pores to remove 99.5% of pore-clogging things such as dead skin and dirt. The silicon also means it’s more hygienic than other face devices, and it’s more gentle. All you need to do, is apply your cleanser then use this device for one minute, twice a day.
The pulsations pause slightly after around 15 seconds and that’s when you change the area of the face. For example, you’re doing your right cheek, the pulsations pause, you’ll move onto left cheek. You move the device in circular movements.
You’ll never read any bad reviews about the Luna mini 2 and it gave me very high hopes for when I first used it.
As well as the Luna mini 2, Foreo have Lunas which are bigger versions of the minis, they have Foreo play which has a set number of uses so you can see if you like it and the UFO which is a facial at home that uses heat technology.
I went for the Foreo Luna mini 2 as I had quite a lot of Boots points and the Luna 2 was available in store at the time and they had it in pink. As sad as it sounds, the colour really mattered to me- it was pink or nothing!
What were my very first impressions of the Luna mini 2?
I wasn’t blown away at first. It did make my skin very soft though. After reading reviews however, I was expecting wake up with clear skin. That wasn’t the case. Believing it, was a mistake on my behalf. Products don’t work overnight, so electronic skincare tools, such as the Luna mini 2, definitely won’t!
My skin at the time of my first use, was experiencing a hormonal breakout so that probably didn’t help. Despite this, I was still a little disheartened. I wasn’t ready to give up though. If it can work for everyone else, why not me?
Another thing that may not have helped, could have been my change of cleanser. I switched out my Biore charcoal cleanser for Lush’s Dark Angels. I don’t dislike the Biore cleanser at all, I just wanted to see if my new lush cleanser, could work the same magic as my trusty, Let the good times roll. As time has gone on, my skin has improved greatly.
How do I use my Foreo Luna mini 2?
At first, I used it both morning and night. I think this may have over-exfoliated my skin though, as my skin started to purge. Skin purging is where a product brings all the dirt to the top of your skin so you break out before your skin clears up. The Luna websites advises that you use the Luna mini 2 twice a day but I highly recommend that you only use it once a day. You’ll thank me later!
Upon discovering this, I now use it once a day and this is at night. This is when my skin most likely needs the deep cleanse. I only double cleanse if I wear makeup and this works perfectly for me. At night, I also follow it with the Revolution niacinamide and zinc serum. In the morning, I use the Revolution salicylic acid serum. At night, I also use a toner, and my choice is Pixi glow tonic. I recently stopped using toner before Christmas but I noticed my skin massively improved when I reintroduced it into my skincare. The two serums have improved my skin immensely and I recommend them to anyone who struggles with acne!
What else is useful to know about the Foreo Luna mini 2?
It has a 2 years warranty so if it’s basically guaranteed to last you at least 2 years which I think makes it a good investment.
The thing that impresses me most about the Foreo Luna mini 2 is that the charge is amazing! One full charge should last around 5 months (300 uses) and that’s if you use it twice a day. For me, it should last even longer! Even if you do use it twice a day though, 5 month use is absolutely amazing!
After the one minute, the device will also signal that the cycle is over. This is extremely useful as I don’t have a clock around whenever I use it! It’s so simple to use and it’s so easy to incorporate into an everyday skincare routine.
What’s my final thoughts?
After now using it for several weeks, I’m much more impressed than after my first use. It has helped clear my skin; it’s also made it incredibly soft. My pores look smaller and I have minimal spots on my skin. In simpler words, I cannot sing higher praises for the Luna mini 2!
I do enjoy incorporating it into my routine and actually enjoy the feeling of it cleaning out my skin. It makes me feel much more confident in how well my skin has been cleaned.
My biggest words of advice is give it time! It took around 7-10 days before I started seeing results and those results weren’t drastic. I also recommend using the smaller bristled side when you first use it as it’s gentler on the skin. It’s probably also best to not press it too hard against the skin as I feel that’s what also made my skin react badly at first.
The biggest tip from me however is to only use the Luna mini once a day, I recommend at night. It may seem like a big investment but you will be using it every day. It’s also worth considering how much you’re willing to invest for clear skin!
If you’re thinking about purchasing one, then I’d say go for it! There’s nothing to lose, and you might just get your best ever skin from it!
What’s your go-to face device? Have you tried the Luna mini 2?
