So the one good thing that’s getting everyone through this lockdown is Disney+. It has every Disney episode and movie and more! I am a huge fan of Disney and was therefore so excited to purchase it when it came out! I immediately compiled a watchlist and that’s what I’ll be sharing with you today!
Now surprisingly, I’d never seen this one throughout my childhood but I’d always loved how beautiful Sleeping Beauty was. I’ve actually already watched this since downloading Disney+ and it’s a gorgeous film. There are some differences between Disney’s version and the tradition, such as the fact that Aurora doesn’t sleep for 100 years. I was also surprised that her dress is actually blue for most of the film, not pink as she’s mostly seen wearing in advertising purposes! I think that may be because Cinderella’s traditional colour is blue. It’s such a traditional film and it transports me in time. I also love the name that the good fairies give her whilst in the cottage – Briar Rose.
Pooh’s Heffalump movie
I used to watch this film abundantly when I was a child yet I actually can’t remember the plot of this at all. The only part I do remember is that they’re petrified of the “heffalumps”. The heffalump character is so cute though and I can’t wait to be reabsorbed into the 100 acre wood. Winnie the Pooh is my favourite character and is actually my icon picture for my account! I adored the DisneyWorld castle projections of Winnie the Pooh.
The Piglet Movie
This is probably my favourite Winnie the Pooh film! It’s about piglet feeling left out and running away. Of course, all the characters are worried and set off to find him. My favourite scene from this film is the one at Kanga’s house and I love the song that they play just before the credits and as the credits roll. Not many people have actually seen this movie but in my eyes it’s incredibly underrated and needs to be seen by everybody!
Now I was into Disney Channel in the phase of Hannah Montana and Wizards of Waverley place. Lizzie McGuire was rarely shown. The few episodes that did air however, I remember enjoying so I’ve added the show to my watch list and hopefully I’ll enjoy it as much as I did then. My favourite part is the fact that there’s a little cartoon version of her that in some ways seems to be the “alter ego” version of her.
Wreck it Ralph 1+2
This may possibly be my favourite Pixar movie! I love all the characters and I adore the Sugar Rush game that Vanellope is part of, it’s so cute and I’m a huge sweet tooth. I would have loved a game like this at the arcades I visit! I’ve not yet watched the second film but I’m excited to because I’ve heard very good things about it. I can’t wait to see how Ralph and Vanellope take on WiFi and what other brands they incorporate into this movie!
This was undoubtedly my favourite show for at least 5 years. It completely absorbed me. I watched all the cross overs, shipped Miley with characters and almost cried when she took her wig off to the world! Before I even downloaded Disney+, I knew this would be on my watchlist because it was just too big a series not to! Even those who didn’t like nor watch Hannah Montana at least recognises the chorus of “Best of Both Worlds.” Iconic.
Now this is both underrated and overrated in my opinion. It’s such a good movie that more people need to know about, but the people who do, hype it up far too much. It’s a very good movie but it’s not one I’d want to watch every day. What I will say however is that the soundtrack is very good and it’s actually a movie that a lot of people will related to, I wouldn’t however say that it’s the best movie in the world. If you’re unsure about watching this then I’d recommend listening to the soundtrack- you’ll be sold!
One of my old favourites! I’ve only watched this a handful of times but it’s such a heart-warming film! I also love the song “On my Way”. Hardly anyone knows of/remembers this film and it’s so sad. This one, truly is, underrated and I’d highly encourage you to watch it!
You need to watch this. No questions asked. Many of you probably has but if you can’t sing along to “I can go the distance”, then you haven’t watched it enough times. This is a firm family favourite and I’m so glad that my sisters were as obsessed as I was! The music is good and the storyline is great.
The search for Santa paws
Another that nobody has heard of. It’s set in an orphanage and Santa’s pet dog shows them the true magic of Christmas. I love the scene where they’re singing and the dog transforms the whole room into a Christmassy cove. It’s absolutely gorgeous! The young girl, Quinn, is also so cute and her singing scene is adorable! For me, it’s too good to only watch at Christmas!
She’s not your typical princess which is why she’s one of my favourite princesses. The story is not only inspiring but the touches of comedy makes it all the better. I’ll make a man out of you is probably my most favourite Disney song and I love when Mulan gets to the top of the pole at the end of it. It was clear from the start that she was a true heroine.
I loved this series while younger and I almost completely forgot about it until I saw it on the app! I instantly watched the first 2 episodes and I’m hooked again! I’m not usually big on cartoons but I’ll make this exception since I love it so much! The best thing is that the characters are all so different yet they’re best friends. Maybe it’s not very realistic but it’s certainly refreshing!
Lady and the tramp (2019)
Another I am yet to watch but the dogs look so adorable and I love the original storyline. I’m also so curious to see how they create that famous spaghetti theme! I have seen some criticism about the dogs not having true emotions but I still think it’ll be adorably heartwarming and I can’t wait to watch!
Elephants are my favourite animals so it was no doubt that I’d have this on my list! I actually haven’t watched the original but something about the live-action one has drawn me in more. Dumbo is absolutely gorgeous and I can’t wait to get absorbed into the world of the circus. I’m not keen on seeing the dark side but I’m sure it’ll have a happy ending- all Disney films do!
Decorating Disney : Holiday Magic
I’m not big on documentaries but I’m always intrigued on how they decorate the parks so quickly for the different holidays. This shows all the details and effort that goes into it and I’m certain that it’ll be interesting. It’ll also make me miss DisneyWorld but I think it’s a risk I’m willing to take, just this once!
That is all for my Disney List, it’s not too long right now but it’ll grow as I explore more Disney+!
