A post was coming, it’s inevitable. The coronavirus is all anyone’s talking about right now and it’s literally taking over the world! This post is going to be explaining what I’ve been doing while in quarantine/lockdown and hopefully, it’ll give you tips and ideas on what you can do!
Self care
Since being in lockdown. I’ve made myself a self care box. I have actually has a post on self care ideas. This box contains many of my favourite things and included for all different reasons.
- Snow Fairy shower gel- this is in my self care box as I love bubble baths and this is my absolute favourite scent! It also turns my bath a dreamy pale pink while smelling of candy floss. A nice warm bubble bath with candles can really relax you and take your mind off the stress of isolation.
- The Ordinary AHA and BHA peeling mask– I only recently purchased this and I love it! You only need to keep it on 10 minutes and when you wash it off, your skin is so soft and glowy! It’s also pretty fun to use due to its “blood-like” appearance. This is a very popular treatment on TikTok but it was actually the YouTuber Skincare By Hyram that persuaded me to buy it- he knows what he’s talking about!
- Charlotte Tilbury Goddess Clay Mask– This is my mask for when I don’t want a harsh treatment. Not only does it smell gorgeous but it works too, my skin feelings absolutely angelic after using it. You can read all out this in my Charlotte Tilbury Goddess Skin Clay Mask review.
- Body Shop Vanilla Body Butter – The one that I have in my box is the Christmas edition, which is very unfortunate. It’s a huge tub and it’s super moisturising. I love to use it after a bath or shower. Vanilla is my favourite scent and the scent of this lingers on your skin for so long- it makes you smell like a gorgeous cupcake! (Since the vanilla is limited edition, I’ve linked the strawberry one which is my 2nd favourite!)
- Night skincare – I use my PMD clean brush which I have a review for with my lush dark angels cleanser in the shower. My Revolution Niacinamide serum and Simple Kind to Skin Light Moisturiser in the box simply so it’s always at hand. I also keep my Vaseline there as it’s so important to also moisturise your lips!
- Hand sanitizer- I know, predictable but it needs to be there! Personally, I like the Bath and Body Works ones as the scents are so fun but any sanitizer will work in a time like this!
- Scrunchies- simply so I can tie my hair up.
The box has really helped my unwind and relax during this stressful time!
Reading
Reading is something I absolutely love doing but hardly have time for! Unfortunately for me, reading can be quite expensive as I read so fast! I decided to buy and e-book yesterday and I’m already 70% through. Bear in mind I bought this at like midnight last night and went to bed half an hour later. I also sometimes use reading to procrastinate which isn’t good but I can’t help myself! In all honesty, I do prefer reading to watching films (except maybe Disney movies). Of course I like to watch the films but I like reading the book first to compare. Currently, I’m reading “in 5 years.” By time I upload this, I will have probably finished this book. It’s amazing and I have no idea what to expect from it yet! I highly recommend!
Bullet journaling
Of course, I have a selection of Bullet journal posts, I only recently uploaded my April bullet journal theme. Starting a bullet journal is a perfect activity to do during isolation, if you think it’s a good idea for you, then feel free to read my post on how to start a bullet journal for beginners. Not only is it fun, it’s relaxing and really allows you to be creative, this is good in a time like this where creativity can be limited.
Blogging
Of course, a time like this is perfect to really work on and read about my blog. I’ve been researching useful resources and been reading more blog posts. There’s no better excuse! I’m trying to write a blog post (or at least half) a day so I have some in advance and 3-6 fresh pins to schedule for Pinterest. I’m really trying harder with Pinterest right now as I have a lot of time on my hands to share with all my different tasks I want to do. Blogging does take up time but I’m hoping the efforts will pay off!
Browsing social media
I think I’d be lying if I said this lockdown hasn’t caused me to spend more time online, and on social media. I’ve been engaging and posting more particularly on twitter and Instagram. Social media usually just passes time for me which isn’t the best or most productive way to pass time but we all get stuck in a social media hole from time-to-time!
University work
Despite my university being closed, exams are going ahead. I’ve made no secret about how unimpressed I am. It isn’t because I just don’t want to do exams, it’s genuinely because I don’t think it’ll be a true reflection of how well we can do. Being stuck in your own home can be very in motivating and can make you feel uninspired. I have to force myself to do my work and it’s draining but I know it needs to be done. Also, online lectures, aren’t effective. Lecturers can’t be heard and nothing gets learnt, we literally have to copy off powerpoints. Many people can’t effectively learn/study that way. Additionally, since I’m only first year, my grades won’t contribute towards my final grade. If it was my choice, I’d just use the work so far to go towards my grade for my module. For example, an essay was worth 60% of the module, I’d rather it be changed to be worth 100%. I do know that there are worse problems going on, I’d just rather spend my time doing something that’ll help me and that I enjoy.
That is mostly what has been taking up my time in this unfortunate period. Hopefully it’ll end soon and we will all come out of it as healthy and as happy possible. Stay safe and let me know how you’ve been passing your time while being in lockdown/isolation!
I love the snowfairy shower gel too! I’ve been using it as bubble bath as well x
It’s my favourite! Xx
These are some really good ideas! I’m glad to be working from home during these times to keep me busy but I’ll keep this stuff in mind at the weekend!x
Yeah my uni work keeps me mostly busy all week! Xx
Love the post. I myself have been started blogging in this time period we all have. 🌟
Aww I’m so glad you’re having fun! Xx
Great post! Sounds like you’ve kept yourself very busy

I really have! Xx
The self care box is a lovely idea! I’ve been enjoying the extra reading time too
Thank you! And yes, I do love reading! Xx
First off, your blog is beautifully laid out! I really love the organization & aesthetic. Second, I understand what you mean about reading being an expensive hobby! All the second hand bookstores I usually buy from are understandably closed. I started using an app through my public library that lets me check out e-books & audiobooks for free; its been a life saver! I’ve also got to do university work & really miss my lectures since my professors are amazing! Just finished an exam a few minutes ago actually 😅
Thank you so much! I’ve been making sure to read the free samples so I know the book is worth it. We’ve been using blackboard collaborate for lectures and the microphones aren’t great so it’s not the best method of learning xx
Love that you have been doing a lot of self-care since going on lockdown. Oooohhh I need to do some clay masks! Maybe tonight after returning comments hehe. It is great that you have been bullet journaling. Good luck with all of your school work!

Thank you so much! That means a lot! Xx
I’m also in first year uni and really struggling to get my uni work done in lockdown – luckily my exams have been cancelled though so I’m grateful for that.

Yeah my uni announced yesterday that they were cancelling them thankfully! Xx
I want to start by saying how beautiful your site is, from your theme to the layout I love it. I am new to the blogging community so I am still tinkering with my site and trying to learn the in and outs of things. Quarantine so far has been like any other day for me, I have been a stay at home mom for 10 years, but I’ve been keeping extra busy the last couple weeks completely remodeling my house. So far my boys are still aloud to leave our yard to ride bikes but I look for that to change soon and then that’ll probably make it a little more hectic!
Thank you and yes I agree! I think it’ll get stricter than this xx
I definitely agree with you, I like to read the book first and then compare it to the film. But, I do love a good Disney film!
Al x
Disney films are the best! Xx
You have such a beautiful blog! I really enjoyed reading this; keep up the good work!
Aww thank you so much! Xx
I have really been enjoying doing more self care and pampering during this time! It’s a nice way to give ourselves more time and attention xo
Makeup Muddle
It really is! Xx
I love the idea of making a self-care box! I have also been doing lots of reading during the lockdown, and trying to spend more time on my blog too! Stay safe and well x
Thank you! The box really helps! And you stay safe too! Xx
Yes I love this! I’ve also been concentrating on blogging, and I’ve made a self care drawer in my room! These are all such good ideas!

Thank you! It’s so nice to not stress over stuff 💗
Glad to see that you’re managing well in the current situation! Keeping our spirits up is very important 😊
So true! I hope you’re also doing well! Xx
I absolutely love the Ordinary Aha, it’s an amazing product. So glad you are practicing self care
It is amazing! Xx
I like this post a lot. I always tell myself that I will start a bullet journal but I never do it but I should do it one way or another and I agree to studying alone is kinda hard (?) I personally feel that I’m not learning much studying online I rather go to my classes but oh well.

Yeah me too and bullet journaling is great!
Beautiful blog and lovely post! 💞
Thank you so much! Xx
Reading, reading, reading, reading and more reading!
It’s so relaxing! Xx
I love the idea of a self-care box, that is perfect! Bullet journalling is so relaxing too, I spent a lot of time on mine at the weekend and I definitely felt much calmer & enjoyed being creative 🙂 Your bullet journal pages are always so neat and pretty. Hope you are doing okay and have a lovely week! <3 xx

Aww thank you so much! My bullet journal is definitely good to distracting myself and I love my pink self care picks! Xx
So glad you are keeping busy! Love the product recommendations too!
Thank you!! Xx
Sooo I have to say I find self-isolation very hard right now and I try to focus on my work but I find it so hard! Thank you for these tips and for sharing your experiences!
I hope it gets easier for you! It’s not easy but you’ll get through this! Xx
I’m the same way! I love baths and body works products, they leave me smelling so good. I am also a fast reader. During this time I’ve been breezing through books like crazy. I started to reread my favorites, and start a book of my own. For my blog I try to get all the social media and blog posts done in one weekend. Then I work on the Pinterest pins. Love this post, gives me products and new ideas to try. Like the bullet journal in heard of them but never tried one before. Thanks for sharing!
Aw thank you! Glad you enjoyed! Xx
I’ve also been using this time to blog more but I admit that there are days that I find it hard to create content. I definitely have to do more self-care activities! I love to read too. Have you heard of Scribd? Last I checked they were giving 30 days free trial and there are lots of books there. 🙂
I actually haven’t heard of it! I’ll have to check it out xx
Yes! Those are great activities to keep occupied while calming down too!
I am starting art journal too!
😀
I am working from home full-time but cant wait to get into my art journal and use cute art supplies i have at hand..
🙂
It’s so fun and relaxing! Xx
It’s sounds like you’re nailing self isolation!
I’m still working from home but all of your list is things I thought I’d do but I’ve yet to achieve any of it .
Maybe during my very late half term break.
Keep safe x
I hope you get to do some of it! Xx
Great post, Kyra. Glad that you’re getting something productive out during this lockdown. (:
Thank you! I’m definitely keeping busy! 💕
