Even though England isn’t the warmest country during summer, we do get heat waves occasionally. In this post, I’m sharing the fashion pieces that have to belong in my wardrobe during the warm months of summer. You need these essentials that are perfect for the heat!
Of course, dresses were bound to be mentioned in a post like this so why not make it the first one? Cute summer dresses are all over and available to people of all budgets. My post on my other blog shares the cutest summer dresses and it consists of 15 dresses, 5 each of luxury, high-end and high-street.
Dresses are so easy to throw on you just always look like you’ve made an effort. I like to make that little extra effort by adding a belt. In my opinion, it just takes the outfit to a little extra level. For summer, my go to colour is white but other colours such as yellow and red are also popular as well as floral patterns and broderie-anglaise.
Right now, I am LOVING co-ords. My particular favourite is from shein, it is a pink blazer-short set and it’s the cutest! I wear it with a white vest top beneath it and it’s such a well put-together outfit. Co-ords are mainly shorts and tops as well as skirts and tops. Shein has many co-ords available. For the prices, I can’t recommend it enough!
These are another type of outfit where you don’t have to put much thought into. The outfit is already planned out for you! All you have to do is throw it on and your cute outfit is sorted for the day.
Jumpsuits / playsuits
I love playsuits and jumpsuits mainly because it’s more modest than a dress but still effortlessly stylish.
The first is this beautiful black organza playsuit that’s part of the “black playsuits” range! I think this will be perfect for nights out (when we’re allowed to do so again) or, if you can’t wait to wear it, to a small garden party!
Next is a stone, off the shoulder jumpsuit that’s part of the slinky jumpsuits range. This looks much better one than it does off and the colour isn’t an exact match of what you see on the website. Other than the colour, it is an exact match and can definitely be dressed both up and down for all types of occasions.
Finally, we have a black jumpsuit simply part of the black jumpsuit range. I love the cross over detail at the front. It’s a silky material that may get slightly heavy for very hot days but can be worn when it’s a little cloudy. This is very comfortable so would also be good for lounging around in. I love versatile summer fashion pieces!
I did actually do a review on their loungewear and I really enjoyed that. Out of the 2 collections I prefer the loungewear but these jumpsuits and playsuits are very good for summer.
It wouldn’t be summer if you didn’t have a few pairs of shorts to cycle between! I have around 3-4 pairs. I prefer material shorts over denim though I do have a denim pair in case I really think of them as necessary. Denim shorts do tend to be more versatile so I recommend a staple pair of denim shorts for summer.
My favourite pair of shorts is my snake print shorts. They are lightweight and just the perfect length for me. I used to think the shorter the better and yet I later decided that they aren’t the ones for me. So many people suit them so well but I personally don’t think I have the legs for shorts that are very short.
Cropped tops are a perfect summer staple and I love to style mine with high-waisted shorts or skirts. These also come in a range of style from vest-tops, to t-shirts to bandeaus.
Any type of crop top is a summer fashion piece, especially for the beach. I also prefer to wear looser ones as they’re just more airy. When I wear tighter ones, they just make me warmer and start to stick a little. That look is not flattering on me at all!
I love lace or tennis-style skirts! Flowy skirts are gorgeous in summer and a total staple for me. I love Hollister for skirts but I’ve also had many from Primark or Topshop when it comes to denim. Because of how many types of skirts there are, they are so versatile and can be worn for any type of occasion. Personally, I prefer shorter skirts as it’s a style I feel I suit better. I wish I could pull of midi skirts as they’re so effortlessly chic. Zara is amazing for midi skirt and I often find myself dreaming of being able to pull them off well!
Slip on shoes or sandals!
Of course I had to include the summer staple shoes too! I love slip on shoes in summer as they’re so easy to wear and match with outfits. Sandals are a little more difficult to tie into an outfit but they’re such a summer shoe that I had to include them!
Strappy sandals are perfect to match with a summer sundress at the beach or just to wear with an everyday outfit! The only reason that they aren’t my shoe of choice is because of the awkward tan lines. Petty I know! If you don’t mind tan lines however, sandals are the way to go!
And that’s it on my summer fashion staples! What do you wear all summer long?
