Most girls dream of becoming prettier. Now, before I start these tips, I just want to say that everyone’s perception of beauty is different. You don’t have to use these tips to become prettier.
These are easy tips to help you feel prettier and in turn, more confident in yourself. They’re so simple and you’ll wish that you did them sooner!
1. Take care of your hair
Your hair can make a world of difference to your appearance. You could dye or cut it, style it using the best hair styling tools or use a hair mask (my favourite is the garnier banana mask* – it smells so good!)
The biggest thing that has made a difference to my hair though, has been using a silk pillow case. It reduced frizz and breakages immensely and I honestly have some of the frizziest hair! My favourite is the one by Slip* but I am aware they are quite expensive so it’s not within everyone’s budget.
I also find that sleeping in scrunchies is best for my hair. They’re a little looser so gentler on the hair and don’t tug.
The scrunchies and pillowcase ensure I wake with soft and silky hair. To me, this instantly makes me prettier, it helps frame my face more flatteringly. It also means I don’t have to put as much effort into my hair every day!
2. Look after that skin!
Recently, I’ve really been looking into the skincare products I use on my face. It all comes from watching Skincare by Hyram on YouTube and honestly, my skin looks great!
I’ve been using a skincare routine by the Ordinary recently and it’s the best thing that I’ve ever done for my skin! I also use the Ordinary peeling mask and PMD Microderm once a week as a form of exfoliation.
The silk pillowcase is also known to help with your skin as it reduces the amount of friction against your skin from your pillow. This is especially important if you have sensitive skin.
My biggest skincare tip though, is to wear sunscreen everyday! It doesn’t matter if it’s sunny outside or not, you need sunscreen! Your phone also emits UV rays which can be harmful to your skin!
Sunscreen also helps your skin look glowy which according to some, makes you appear prettier!
3. Make sure you smell good!
It’s proven that when you smell good, you appear more attractive to others! Fake those brains people! Of course you’re gorgeous as you are but why not wire people’s brains to make them think you’re even prettier!
Personally, I’m a huge fan of sweet-scented perfumes. I have a whole blog post on the best scented body products. They smell absolutely gorgeous and have the sickly sweet vanilla scent that I love!
My all time favourite perfume has got to be Dior hypnotic poison*. When wearing it, I always get compliments and my boyfriend really loves it! I never used to have a signature/favourite perfume but then I stumbled across this! I can’t help but feel so much prettier when I wear it!
4. Get your matching underwear on!
Now, technically, no one will see this – unless you have a special someone that you want to show it to! But, this tip makes you feel so, so, so, so much prettier! It just gives you that little more confidence and makes you feel a little more put together.
Think lace, satin, luxury materials that you wouldn’t usually wear. You’ll feel not only prettier, but richer too!
The best part? It doesn’t have to be expensive! Of course Victoria’s Secret have gorgeous underwear but Nasty Gal has this gorgeous black lace set* that costs only a fraction of what the same at VS would! My advice however, is to take more care with the cheaper sets, they can be very flimsy. The lace sets are more prone to tearing than others!
5. Dress what you’re comfortable in!
Who cares if no one else likes it? If you like it, it’ll suit you, because you’ll wear it with confidence!
My style includes a lot of pastels and pinks which isn’t following the main trends of instagram. Do I care? No! I love my style and I’m not going to change it to fit in!
I used to try and keep up with trends but honestly, they fade too quickly and I don’t have the money to keep on top of it. As well as that, I felt uncomfortable in the clothes as they weren’t my style. Now I go for more classic pieces that are soft and feminine!
6. Get enough sleep
Those eye bags won’t erase themselves! The only cure for that is enough sleep, and the Ordinary caffeine solution*… but sleep is the focus here!
I personally love sleeping, I always try to get at least 8 hours and I can always tell the effects if I haven’t! When I haven’t had enough sleep, I feel groggy and lazy, it’s not fun. Blogging keeps me busy and if I haven’t had enough sleep, I’m left feeling very unmotivated!
7. Work on your confidence
If you carry confidence, you’ll turn heads. Sometimes it may be negatively but overall, it will be positively.
If you’re confidence in yourself then you’ll feel prettier. It doesn’t matter whether anyone else does or not. This post never claimed to make you appear prettier to everyone else. It’s yourself who counts the most. Make yourself irresistible to yourself!
Confidence was never my strong suit and I never used to think I was pretty in the slightest. Since using the tips on my confidence blog post, I’ve actually looked at myself and was taken aback at how pretty I thought I looked!
Thankfully, confidence also gave me courage to talk to my boyfriend and at time of writing (August 2020), we’ve been together almost 9 months!
8. Stop stressing!
This is magical when it comes to changing your appearance for the better. Stress really weighs you down and drags your facial features and posture along with it.
When the stress is lifted, your face relaxes and you instantly look more at ease, which is perceived prettier by the majority. It also in turn, improves your posture that is linked to elegance and a prettier appearance.
9. Care for your body!
Now, you may be thinking, another post that tells me to workout! And while there are some amazing at-home workouts to try, there are other ways to care for your body!
Maybe shave your legs? In autumn, it’s easy to abandon the razor and let your legs grow an extra layer beneath your jeans. But, just think how good that smooth leg feeling is!
Also, remember to moisturise your legs! It’s makes your skin soft and smooth and it smells good too which helps with tip #3!
In autumn, a tan may help you feel prettier. I have a blog post on my tanning routine. Having a tan, always makes me feel prettier, and strangely, slimmer? For some unknown reason, I much prefer my body when I’ve slapped some fake tan on so it may be the quick fix for you too!
Then, of course, you have the old favourite, eat well. Remember the fruit and veg but also remember balance!
10. Stay humble
Appearance links with personality. You’re likely to appear prettier when you have a beautiful personality. The best way to do this is to be humble.
Never drag others down to make yourself above them and don’t be too big-headed about what you have and have achieved. Obviously be proud and share achievements but don’t push it in everyone’s face at every chance.
My biggest tip though is to not turn down or deny compliments, graciously accept them, and, if possible, return the kind words. Don’t force it though, don’t make it seem like you’re only paying a compliment because they have. Maybe save the compliment until the next time you see them!
