As fall falls upon us, it’s inevitable that you want to feel more warm and cozy at night.
These are ideas to make you feel dreamy in the colder months and are sure to have you warm and cosy in no time!
Change into other clothes
Now this can be incorporated into any night routine but winter clothes are so much more comfortable! I love wearing sweaters with leggings or even my pyjamas to feel cozy in winter.
If you’re comfortable, you’ll feel so much better and it’s a relieving way to start any night.
To make yourself extra cozy, choose warm, soft pyjamas. Not only do they keep you warm but the softness of the material against your skin is perfect to help you relax for the night.
Wrap yourself up in a blanket
Again, it makes you extra cozy and it’s best to do this just before bed.
Why, you may ask? Well you can do any relaxing activity while being engulfed in a warm fluffy blanket. You can watch Netflix, or Disney+ (I have a whole load of Disney+ recommendations!) or you can read a good book!
The warmth of the blanket and relaxing activity are sure to get your eyelids drooping and have you sleeping in no time!
Personally, I love knitted blankets, they feel more rustic and authentic in winter! I particularly love H&M knitted blankets*- they’re affordable and incredibly cozy!
Light a candle
Candles are perfect for winter and fall and the scents that come out during this season are my favourite!
Think vanillas, pumpkin, log fires. They’re all warm scents that I fall in love with every year. My favourite is especially vanilla.
One of my favourite things about candles are the atmosphere they create whether it be intimate or cozy. They’re especially effective when have a bath at night or while wrapped up in that blanket.
Due to the vast range of candles and scents, they have multiple uses. I love how they can be used for self care or to set the mood of a room! I love festive candles and in a past blog post, I share my favourite festive scents, most of these can be the main scent of a candle.
Have a bath
Baths are just so much more cozier than showers so take the time for this little act of self care.
Not only do they allow you to relax but you can adapt them to your own suiting. Read a book or magazine, have some chocolate on hand or even have a face mask on!
There’s honestly no better feeling than getting out of a warm bath into a pair of warm pyjamas and a fluffy dressing gown.
My favourite way to enjoy a warm bath is with a bath bomb or bubble bath!
Have a hot drink
Hot chocolate screams winter and therefore makes it the go-to drink for a cozy night routine. You can enjoy it simply, with all the works or even try adding an extra flavour in it! Have you ever tried to spice up your hot chocolate this way? Trust me, it’s a game changer!
You can multitask with this one as you can enjoy the drink while cuddled up watching Netflix. Or, you can enjoy the simplicity of this simple cozy idea.
Not a fan of hot chocolate? Try tea, coffee or even warm milk. It just makes you feel so much cozier and will help you fall asleep when the time comes.
Bake something!
The scent of freshly baked treats makes any setting cozy! Not only does it bring a wonderful scent but it’s so fun too! I love baking cookies for my friends and family and of course, I indulge throughout the process!
Even if you just use a pre-made cake mix that only needs an egg, you’ll instantly fill the room with delicious smells. As the cakes cook, you’ll feel a cozy atmosphere settle around you and that smell will linger all night.
This is my favourite way to feel cozy at night.
Put on a pair of fluffy socks
A very small way to feel cozy but it works! These socks come in very different styles to suit everyone and they’re so comfortable.
Overall, I prefer these to slippers as for some reason, I can never keep slippers on my feet! These don’t come off and they’re so cozy on the inside. When it’s snowing, I keep them on the radiator so I can warm my feet as soon as I get in!
One of my absolutely favourite things about these however, is how inexpensive they are! I love to go to Primark for mine as they only usually cost around £5 – usually on the lower side of this too!
Whenever I go shopping, especially in winter, I always pick up a few pairs to keep me going!
Journal
I love bullet journaling as you may know! My most popular post is actually how to start a bullet journal!
Journaling always relaxes me and I like to plan my to-do lists for the next day! It helps me clear my mind and I love filling in my spreads.
Recently, I’ve been particularly loving my gratitude spreads as they really help me reflect on what I have. It always makes me feel so positive when I do this.
This is perfect for a cozy night as it’s so therapeutic and there’s no rules on how you design your journal. Because of this, there’s no pressure and no stress. It’s why it’s so perfect for the night time!
Now, those were my tips on having a cozy night! How do you like to get cozy in winter? Let me know!
These are such cute ideas! I’ve been trying to incorporate journaling more into my routines and it makes me feel so much better and so much more aware too. xx

Yes to all of this! I love getting changed at the end of the day, even if it’s straight into my PJs. To make it even cosier I have them ready and waiting on the radiator so they’re warm.

Colder and darker nights definitely call for cosy nights! When I finish work I like to go for a run and then go for a lovely hot bath/shower (depending on how much time I have) and get in my fluffy pjs and under a blanket to watch tv!
